Back in the Desert

On that glittering night, when even the road shone in the reflection of the city light, he drove back his Corvette into his garage. In his leather jacket, rugged jeans and Elvis hair he walked back to his room spinning the keys of his car in his middle finger. He had driven from bar to bar with friends and acquaintances and had planned long drives with girls he had met on the way. He had given lifts to hitchhikers and guided them to places. His car was adored and his manners were appreciated and along with the heroine, this had kept him high.
But like every other day he drove back home alone. The keys lay on the table while he showered and Beatles played in the otherwise quiet room.

  6. @mradul and vaibhav: actually i was thinking of the following song,
    Many times I've been alone
    And many times I've cried,
    Anyway you've always known
    The many ways I've tried.

And still they lead me back
    To the long, winding road
    You left me standing here
    A long, long time ago
    Don't leave me standing here
    Lead me to your door.

  7. Is this an exaggerated self-reference? I know you like the Beatles.

  8. Being alone, in my opinion, means being alone well, immersed into a world of my own away from the existence, presence and absence of others. Yes, solitude is an achievement. It feels reassuring to be back in the desert. (I dunno how you feel though)
